Privacy Policy

Venice Airport Waterbus ("the App") is developed by Andrea Toffanello as an independent project. This policy describes how we handle information when you use the App.

Data We Collect

The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The only information it may collect is anonymous usage statistics, described below. Specifically:

• No account or registration is required.
• No personal information (name, email, phone number) is collected.
• No location data is collected or stored. The map and "nearest stop" features use your device's location only locally and never send it to any server.
• No advertising or tracking tools are integrated, and no data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
• No cookies or similar technologies are used.

Anonymous Usage Statistics

To understand how the App is used and improve it, the App collects anonymous usage statistics: when the App is opened, which screens are visited, how long a session lasts, and the language and colour setting chosen. These figures are counted together by day and hour, not as a record of individual actions.

They are associated with a random identifier generated on your device at install time. The identifier is not linked to your name, account, contact details, location or any other identifier, and is not used to track you across apps or websites.

The statistics are received by a service running on Cloudflare and stored in a database hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany, on Neon). They are used for analytics only.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Anonymous usage statistics. When you turn it off, the App stops sending data and deletes the statistics waiting to be sent and the random identifier from your device; if you turn it back on, a new identifier is generated.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores your preferences (language, disclaimer acknowledgment, usage statistics setting) and, while usage statistics are on, the random identifier and the statistics not yet sent, locally on your device. Preferences never leave your device; all of it is deleted when you uninstall the App.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to deliver its core functionality:

• Routing API (TransitKit, MOTIS-based) — when you use the journey planner, the App sends an anonymous request containing your selected origin, destination and departure time to api.transitkit.app to compute itineraries. No personal identifier is sent.
• Map rendering — on iOS the App uses Apple MapKit; on Android the App uses the Mapbox Maps SDK, which may collect anonymized telemetry data (such as map tile requests) in accordance with the Mapbox privacy policy. No personal data is shared with the map providers by the App.

Schedule Data

Waterbus schedules are based on publicly available GTFS data from Alilaguna and are bundled within the App. No server connection is required to view schedules.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous usage statistics contain no personal information and are not linked to any individual.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
